To coincide with the Copenhagen climate change summit (COP15) Greenpeace is joining hands with IYCN, PASUMAI THAAYAGAM, WWF, REUNITE OT REDEFINE INDIA, BHUMI, ADORE NATURE, CHEVLIAR SOCIETY for a peaceful HUMAN CHAIN demonstration on the 12th December’09, which is the Global day of action (Global Day of Action is a direct action environmentalism initiative begun in 2005 by the Global Climate Campaign and created to focus world attention on the anthropogenic effect that humans are having on global warming). Similar events will be taking place in the other major cities in India.
This demonstration is going to be in the form of a human chain from (Between – 4pm to 6pm, Location – Labour Statue and Light house). More than 2000 people are going to be a part of this event and this demonstration will have extensive media coverage. The main aim of this event is to create awareness about the ongoing climate change summit which will be the most important climate conference ever. This summit is definitely going to be important in deciding the fate of our planet.
We are also having a base camp at Chennai, where we will be holding workshops, activities, documentaries screening on various climate change related issues and a live video conferencing with the delegates at Copenhagen and much more. These events will be covered by a number of media channels.
